The Best Travel Cross-Body Purse For Travel

Finding the perfect purse for travel is like finding a unicorn. Between size, color, closure, material, straps, durability, pockets, and several other considerations, you almost always end up compromising in some areas.
UNTIL THIS PURSE.
Meet the eBags Piazza Day Bag…
I happened upon this purse through dumb luck many years ago, perusing eBags in desperate need of a crossbody travel purse that was water-resistant for my Costa Rica girls’ trip a few years ago.
It got really good reviews (4.5 stars right now) and I could get it within a couple days, so decided to give it a try. It has since become my go-to for every single trip I take.
Update 2023: Sometimes this bag is (sadly!) out of stock…if that’s the case, this Travelon and this Baggalini are great alternative options that offer very similar features.
That’s right, I said it—this the the absolute best crossbody travel purse.
Why do I love it?? Here are just a few reasons…
- It’s water-resistant and basically impervious to dirt, mud, weird things on European streets…
- It packs relatively flat, or I can pack it full and also put it in my carry-on duffel for the plane
- The strap is wide and comfortable, not digging into my neck
- It has GOBS of pockets for different things
- It’s shockingly roomy

It works equally well with hiking clothes and dresses. The only time I’ve felt like it didn’t really fit my outfit was when I was quite dressed up fancy for dinner, and honestly I just don’t like cross-body purses at all for being dressed up. But since I don’t get really dressed up all that often when traveling, that rarely impacts me.

One of my favorite things is that it doesn’t cause my dresses to bunch up and ride up (with one exception, which is entirely the dress’s fault). It also seems to be completely impervious to dirt and stains…it still looks like new.
The reason I haven’t posted this sooner is that it was actually discontinued for a while, and I was inconsolable. But it’s back! They’ve released a 2.0 version with RFID, in a few different colors. Get. It. Now. Seriously. I’ve had this bag for a few years now and take it on every trip, and it hasn’t aged a day!

Or you can get it on Amazon as well, if you’re a Prime junkie like me.
What are your other go-to purses for traveling? I’ll admit I’m not a backpack person at all. But would love to hear all your favorites! And if you have any questions at all about the Piazza Day Bag, hit me up in the comments because I love it to DEATH and want everyone to have one!
Just as an FYI, I may make a super small affiliate commission from any sales that come through clicks on my links to eBags or Amazon, which I greatly appreciate, and is at no extra cost to you. All opinions are, as always, completely my own!

I feel the same way about my Sidekick from Lug! It took a few tries to find the right purse, but this one works so well for travelling. I do like a lot of the ebags brand items though, so will keep the Piazza in mind for the future!
