Towering over the Valdichiana (Chiana Valley), Cortona is the quintessential Tuscan hill town. It has beautiful lake views, medieval walls, an amazing foodie scene, welcoming locals, and heart-pounding hills to climb. It’s the perfect place to spend a few days…or more than a week relaxing.

Where to stay in Cortona
Why is the the perfect Cortona apartment?? Well first, let’s start with the VIEWS.
The adorable tiny patio gave me my own front-row seat to soak in hushed foggy sunrises, blue-skied lunches, and fiery sunsets. The sunsets in particular were a selling point for this particular apartment, and I made sure to spend almost every evening watching the sunset before heading down for dinner.

Don’t underestimate pretty, quiet sunrises though. I loved picking out all the little details in the valley below, from the church dome to the dark green trees and the little houses.

What does the inside look like? Pretty spacious, with two bedrooms and a cute little loft sitting area.

I definitely availed myself of the kitchen area and made a couple meals in the apartment, though mostly sampled all the amazing Cortona restaurants (you can see which ones were my favorites in this post on Cortona’s food scene!). The dining room and living room also both have great valley views.
