“Capital Cities” Coffee Table Book…My Exciting New Collaboration!

I’m excited to announce a project that’s been in the works for a LONG time… “Capital Cities“, a stunning hardcover photography / travel coffee table book exploring capital cities around the world.
This isn’t something basic like a a travel guide or trip planning resource, but rather an “ode to capital cities”. Each city’s spread in the 258-page hardcover book explores unique facets of beauty, culture, history, and lifestyle through photography and short anecdotes.

Why capital cities?
Capital cities are one of the beating hearts of a country. Sometimes, like Prague, Buenos Aires, or Cape Town, they’re a gleaming destination that tops tourist itineraries. Or like Zagreb and Lima they may get a connecting flight and a few hours of exploration before moving on to other areas. And still others, like Ottawa, Wellington, or Ankara, may be overshadowed by other parts of the country and tend to get overlooked by visitors.
In all cases they are an fusion of a country’s culture, economy, population, food, and history (and often controversy *over* history and the correct capital city). They’re REAL, offering a slice of life that travelers sometimes miss.
What makes this book special?
This isn’t just some glossy brick of a book put out by a massive faceless publisher based on internet research, and that’s why I think this is one of the best travel coffee table books out there.
Instead Capital Cities features 450+ full-color photographs captured by 60 photographers from around the world (including yours truly!), paired with their own personal descriptions, feelings, and stories. It’s far more unique and intimate, each spread giving you a glimpse into life in another country.
The book’s full title is “Capital Cities: A Journey Around the World Through 118 Capital Cities”, and I actually contributed three separate cities’ spreads. While I’ve written travel guides here on the blog for Sofia, Reykjavik, and Jerusalem, the book looks at these cities in a different light.
I not only shared some of my favorite photos, but really tried to capture the essence of how it felt being there…smells, sounds, light, sometimes a fun historical fact that really helps you understand how the people think.
I’m thrilled to give you a sneak peak of the book below!  It makes a wonderful gift for yourself or other travelers in your life, and is something curious kids can enjoy and learn from as well.
